17th Annual Macedonian Festival

We hadn’t been to a festival since like 2004! It’s the last one I have pictures of, and remember. I don’t remember having too much fun but the kids were younger and it’s a little bit harder to keep up with that many munchkins. This year, they all had their friends and stayed in the area where we could find them at a moment’s notice. Papa hung with his old friends and I was able to walk around, with Davey, and visit various family members, friends, as well as make small talk with non-parishoners.

On Saturday, we got there right before the kids performed and then had dinner with them afterwards. The Kebabs, OMG, the kebabs! Dedo Mite was in charge of them and -holy shit, man- he’s THE BOMB at making those. I’m so glad he gave Michael and I the secret family recipe and the tools to make them. Maybe some day will open up “Dedo Mike’s Kebob Stand”? Hey, you never know. I digress.

A friend of ours from co-op came to watch the kids dance. It was so nice to see her and her family, whom we’ve missed since co-op ended. After visiting and trying to leave numerous times, Michael brought me, Davey and Benny home around 8pm. I bathed the baby and put him to bed while Benny played “Impossible Creatures”. Around 9:30pm my parents came home and Michael came back to drop the older two off and take me back to the festival with him. He and I had some beer and wine coolers, respectively, and then came home around 11:45pm. What can you say? When you’re old, you’re old.

Sunday’s weather was much nicer and much more condusive to a festival atmoshpere! The kids perfomed twice again and had way more fun (the weather, I’m sure). We ate more kebabs, drank more beer and wine coolers, and even got a to-go box of “blagi” (sweets). Davey even got in on the action by eating some of Zora’s pitulici (fried dough) and some zelnik (cheese struddle). He was such a good boy, the whole two days, too. Happy and smiley and not fussy or anything, not that he’s not that way (happy and smiley) anyway. The only time he really got upset was when he was tired and the music blared. I quickly remedied that, though, by taking him to the hall and singing to him in the dimly lit room.

Overall, if I had to rate the festival -this year- on a scale from 1 to 10, I give it an 8.5! Things seemed to move smoothly, the food was great, people were pleasant, and it was just a nice ambience. I’m glad we had a good experience, there, this year!

Oh and since the Deacon’s been right on with all his prayers, I’m gonna pray that his latest one comes just as true as the others. Rock on, Godly Dude!!

Here’s an oldie-but-goodie pic from the last festival we went to:

Our Littlest Lady’s Man!

On Thursday I took Davey with me to our church’s Bingo to deliver Avon to some of my customers. My mom had been delivering for me, to make it easier, but I wanted to go and do it b/c it was going to be my last time before we move and I wanted to thank the ladies. Well, Davey was a H-I-T. He got passed around (from our Godmothers, to a friend, to another friend, to an old lady, to another…you get the picture?). I finished up my biz, loaded up the babe and came home.

Benjamin was with my dad and I went to get him and take him up for bath (and Big Brother) and my dad asked to hold Davey for a minute, so in his arms he went. He took one wiff of him and said, “Mirisa ko kurva/He smells like a streetwalker!” Well, he had so many different “lady scents” on him that HE DID smell like a kurva. Not that my dad nor I know what a streetwalker smells like, but I digress.

Well, today, we made it to a Bridal Shower. He got passed to a few family members and friends but the Absolute. Cutest. Thing. was when he was face-to-face with Paula and Kire’s little baby girl, Julia. She and Davey stared at each other and were just soooooooo intrigued with one another. It was awesome! Davey started “talking” to her, he showed her how he claps “yay” and then they even reached out and held hands. I think Davey even tried to kiss her. His grandmother said that she thinks our families are going to become inlaws someday.

Why? oh Why? don’t I have my video camera mounted permanently on my fucking shoulder?

Just. Perfect.

I told Dr. W that we were leaving for GA at the end of the month and he chastised me and said, “Didn’t you know that you have to have a doctor’s slip before you can move anywhere.”

I replied, “Well, my parents will surely be happy.”

He’s such a good doctor and we’ve been lucky to be under his care all these years. Even when we were living in GA and Livey got sick, and we brought her in, he was just so great with us. I hope we are just as lucky to find another doctor who respects all our medical wishes and who takes the time and cares.

Look at these arms! He’s not a particularly chubberific baby but he’s built like a brick shithouse, Itellyawhut! His legs and arms are solid and I think he’s probably gonna have a carreer in bouncing.

Benjaminism: Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman!

He looks pretty spiffy in his Spidey mask, doesn’t he?
