The Big Move Blogging
So much has happened with the move, that it’s kind of daunting to try to put it to words. But, it’s all been good and blessed. Let’s go back in time.
Saturday & Sunday, July 28th & 29th, 2007:
We packed as much as we could and got things ready for the big “Pack-the-Penske” day.
Monday, July 30th, 2007:
“Pack-the-Penske” Day. We worked our asses off. We loaded, struggled, loaded, struggled and by midnight we were on the air mattress in the air conditioned, and fairly empty apartment. It was a long day and when we laid down to sleep we both complained of so many aches and pains. It was pretty much over, though, and we were on to the next phase.
Tuesday, July 31st, 2007:
Michael set off with Olivia, Benjamin and the dogs. They left before 10 o’clock and around 1:30am I received a text saying that they were at the house, on the air mattresses, and ready to sleep. This day, I spent taking care of loose ends around the house and I got stuff ready that needed to be loaded into the Penske when Michael would return on Wednesday night.
Wednesday, August 1st, 2007:
I said goodbye to my father on this morning. He’d been so angry with me over the past weeks and I had had enough. We became cold, like glass, to each other. But, as we embraced we cried our hearts out. I told him all I needed to say and I hope to God that he heard me. I still believe that he thinks that I hate him/them. I have no reason to. We’re just doing what we have to four our kids’ futures. Nothing is done against THEM, it’s done for US. I hope he heard me. :(
I said goodbye to my mother at the airport. I told her I’d miss her and that I loved her. I will and I do. I hope she knows this.
I took my sweet baby on the plane. We sat in first class and the seat beside us was empty until the very last minute. That’s when “Mr. Gerry” sat down. He was so happy at the end of the flight and thanked me profusely for brightening his day. Apparently he’d been through 11 weeks of hell with his daughter, in Buffalo. He even left her house and stayed at a motel. He was so angry and I couldn’t help but think of my father and how angry he’s been with me. I told him this and he said that I needed to be certain that my father/parents loved me so much and that’s where the anger came from. We both concluded that we both needed to sit next to each other. He even held Davey for me and kissed his head once, too. It was rather endearing. He walked me off the plane and to the train. We shook hands and parted ways. I’ll never forget him and I’m sure he’ll probably think of, and pray for, us.
I walked out into the Georgia heat, met up with Michael (who was in his spiffy pilot uniform), and we said “bye” and I drove the kids home! We stopped to eat first and then went on to the house. The first time I walked into my new home, I was holding my new baby, and I was filled with new hope for our future. :)
Thursday, August 2nd, 2007:
Michael and Mikey awoke early and departed, in the Penske, by 6am. They were home by 8:45pm! It was so great to have the whole family, under one roof- OUR roof! By this day I had even seen some of our dearest friends here in GA!
Friday, August 3rd, 2007:
We ended the work week with unloading, sweating, unloading, grunting, and more… But, we got it all done! Beds were put together and we all slept in our own rooms that night. Davey even slept on a crib mattress that Maureen gave us to use. He slept through the night, too!
Saturday, August 4th, 2007:
The Penske was taken back to it’s hub. We came home and then welcomed Michael’s friend and his wife over to our house. Michael and Stacy carried the washer/dryer up the stairs, hooked them up and then we enjoyed a wonderful Mexican dinner.
Sunday, August 5th, 2007:
Groceries and Blinds. The blind situation sucks, and that’s all I’m going to say about that. :D
Phew… I’m tired all over again! I’m settling the house slowly, but it’s coming together. I haven’t talked to my parents much this week. I’ve called and I haven’t received calls back (until tonight). I guess they are dealing with things the way they know how. I don’t know, really. Regardless, we’re all happy. The house has 1700 square feet, and it’s no mansion, by any means, but we think it is. It’s our own personal mansion…and we are proud of it!
