My Ink
![]()
I have one tattoo. It’s an ancient Macedonian symbol, a sixteen point sun burst. It’s located above my right ankle and I love it just as much today, as I did the day I got it! It’s a part of my heritage and I’m glad I got it.
I will may or may not be getting more ink in the future but it has to be the perfect symbol. I have yet to decide what it will be. For the longest time I was going to get the Dave Matthews Band’s fire dancer, but now I’m not so thrilled to get that symbol. Don’t get me wrong, it’s cool and all, it’s just not something I want on my body for, like, ever…

When I got the tattoo I just walked into a local parlor and it was just the artist and myself. I showed him what I wanted and he did it, perfectly. I wanted it in black, no color. I got the tattoo in the fall of 2003. I had lost 50lbs and it was my “reward”. Of course, I’ve gained that weight back with my last pregnancy, so maybe I’ll have to set a second tattoo as my reward for the next 50lbs lost.

Yours was the one I’d like to copy/spoof. I loved it! Shannon
Ohhhh, I like your tat!
And nope, I didn’t guess this as yours.
I heart it, Mishi! I think heritage tats are way cool. I love how precise it still looks, too!
I adore the idea of a tattoo as a reward for weightloss goals. I might try that one; it’s probably the only way my Michael will approve another tat!
I really love the symbol you chose! I like tats that are different & unique, with meaning behind them.
I like it! And I love how it has a much deeper symbolic meaning to you. Cool! Can’t wait to see the next one.
I love that yours is black, I think it makes it more, um, intense?? Powerful, too.
And a very deserving reward!
That is really beautiful story and I love your tattoo and the meaning behind it.
Great story! I actually have three tattoos, myself. To the left of my middle-spine, a tramp stamp (ha!), and on my left lower hip. I should write a post about them some time :)
I’m not sure how I ended up getting so many food tattoos….I know I want more ink but it certainly won’t be food related haha.
Very cool!
Nice! Heritage is totally a great way to go! I don’t have any, but am considering a dragon, for my Eastern zodiac sign. :D
