How Will You Be Remembered?

My new bloggy pal, Damien Riley, had this on his blog (he got the idea from a post over at Slevi‘s) and I just had to snag it.  I mean, come on, a chance to plan out your own tombstone! Too fun.

Make your own and let me know when you do, via comment, so I can check it out.  Go HERE!

There’s the bones of this post, now on to the meat:

What would you like to be said about you at your funeral?
Think of a deceased loved one – what is the one thing you’ll remember the most about him/her?

I really would like to be remembered for my decency.  I strive to be a generous, caring, sympathetic, and righteous person.  Yes, sometimes I cuss and make some rather politically incorrect jokes.  Yes, there have been times where I’ve made a regretable choice or seven.  Yes, there is much that I can do to be a “better” person.   But, for the major part of my existance I’ve been a good person.  I am the girl, that Michael once described me as, with the “golden heart”.     I want to be remembered for being myself, for loving myself and others.

While I’ve been to a few funerals, they’ve not been for immediate family.  I’m scared to think about this.   It really isn’t pleasant, or could it be?

My grandparents are in their late 70′s and while they can live for another 20 years, they could also pass soon.   I quip at my grandmother/Baba for the way she is sometimes, but I will always remember her for her work ethic.  She’s like an Energizer.  She keeps going and going.  Same can be said for my grandfather/Dedo.  They are hard workers and they always have been.  My Dedo, though, I’ll always remember for the way he looks at me; his eyes always filled with such pride and exhileration.   He acknowledges that I am my own person and doesn’t fault me for it.

I don’t even want to think about my parents passing.   I’ll have to sit on this for a while and possibly come back to it.
