If you smoke cigarettes, you know how outrageously expensive they are. Not only are they expensive they are so bad for you and those around you. I have a lot of friends that smoke and it really angers me. And, yes, my friends and readers, I was a smoker once, too. You’re probably thinking I shouldn’t talk. Maybe I shouldn’t? I’m certainly not judging smokers, to each their own; but here’s a breakdown for you:

A pack of smokes is roughly $5.00.

If you smoke a pack a day, that’s roughly $35.00.

For the whole month you are spending about $140.00.

What if you have a partner who smokes a pack a day?

Now you are up to $280.00 a month for the both of you.

I do realize that some people buy cartons and use coupons, but really how much does that save?

A 2×4 carton of cigarettes is roughly $30.00 (I am rounding up, but I feel I can take liberty b/c of individual state taxes and such). So, eight packs for thirty bucks. You’re saving like $5.00, or getting an extra pack. Whoppty-do!

I guess what I’m getting at, folks, is that smoking doesn’t pay. It’s proven that there are carcinogens in cigarettes. It’s proven that there are other toxins. It’s proven that it diminishes the quality of your life. It’s proven that you smell horrible when you smoke. It’s proven that second-hand smoke harms as well. It’s proven that SMOKING IS BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH and YOUR POCKETBOOK! Please try to quit; I implore you!
