Heads or Tails
HEADS – Anything in the sky or space
*or*
TAILS – Anything in or under the water
I choose: HEADS
This was an easy choice for me to make. Michael is a cargo pilot.
He captains a Shorts 360.
Pretty cool, eh?

He worked hard to get where he is.
He’s a natural pilot. The sky is where he “is” and sky’s the limit!
Everyone should be so lucky to find their one, true, and
intelligible purpose in life. He did. It’s awesome.

A story:
When Michael was still in flight school, he took me flying one day. It was an amazing experience to see him in his element. The way he took control of the plane. The way he spoke to air traffic control. The way his pilot shades meshed so well with his headset. All of it was inspiring.
He took me over some mountains. I was thrilled; I love everything there is to love about mountains.
“Wanna go in for a closer look?”
“Sure!”
In we went. Suddenly the engines weren’t making as much noise as there were before.
Nervously I said, “Hey baby, I’m done looking at the mountains this close.”
“What’s wrong?” he asked, knowing me all too well.
“Uhhhh… they’re pretty… Can we go back up now?” I stuttered.
So, up we went. Up where I could confess that I needed the sound of the engine. Up where he would laugh at me.
“Yeah, this is much better,” I relaxed as I heard the engine’s comforting noise.
Oddly enough, I’m usually very nervous upon take off and landing in a commercial jet. In the Piper Warrior, with my husband at the helm, though, I was relaxed and content. So long as we didn’t go in for any more closer looks of any mountains, right?

I bet you thought you were married to Maveric Mitchell while you were up there didn’t ya?
You should have put on “Take my Breath Away” by Berlin while you guys were flying. That would have put you at ease.
More like “Learn to Fly” by the Foo Fighters.. LOL
Oh and yeah, Maverick ALL THE WAY! He does watch that flick every time he catches. See, I could have taken this post in a billion directions.
Love it!!

What a fun thing to do! I would’ve been freaked out being that close to the mountains too, you’re not alone. LOL!
John scares me (and others) when he’s in his element, too.
But it’s mostly because it looks something like this:
John
sometimes it’s okay to get scared because you’ll know that someone has your back.
what a great experience!
What a great post. But, yea, the mountains are prettier from up there, eh?
Ohmigosh, I’m envious! Married to a pilot! That is so cool!
My HoT is here.
He sounds like a great guy. Have a great day.
One excellent post!!!! It was a great read too.
I chose “Up in the Sky” this week….
Hi, there! Your husband is a pilot? Really cool!
Awesome post….come check out mine, maybe you’ll decide to take a flight somewhere :)
great heads or tails.
I loved reading this! I wish I felt as comfortable in the sky as your hubby, but then again I haven’t flown in so long. I wanted to get my degree in aviation, but couldn’t afford the cost. I do have my private but things have changed so much in the past 20 years that I would pretty much have to start all over again. But I do hope to because I miss it. :)
Great post!
Haha..that reminds of a story when Ringo took me up in a cesna. It wasn’t as pretty of a story as yours. Remind me to tell you someday….gas fumes and puke is all I have to say! ROFL
I love to fly even though I’m scared of heights. Last year when the fair came to townn, they took us up in a Helicopter and we got to fly over our home. It was great to experience that with my two sons.

I’ma pilot as well and I feel the same way. Unless I need to talk to air traffice control I never wear headsets – I like to hear the engine. Also – I do not like fying commercial jets – I prefer to be in control.
I have always thought it would be amazing to learn to fly.
There is something about a man in his element, isn’t there? It’s just plain sexy.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful photo. I appreciate that you shared a significant memory of the time you spent in the air with your husband. So sweet.
Awesome post and great story! How cool!
that must have felt really good, going close to mountains :)
Cool!!
What a neat thing. I wish I wasn’t so scared of flying. I just hate it. I usually dope up with Nyquil before take off. ;)

I do a lot of flying in commercial planes but yet I really don’t like flying-it scares me.I once flew in a 10 seater through the mountains of California and that had to be the worst fear I ever felt!
Pilots are a special species. My husband was one, for recreation only. With the onslaught of children, that activity was quite curtailed. But he adored it.
My mom and (evil) stepdad owned a small Cessna that they would fly to pick us up for visitations. I never knew how unusual that was until I grew up.
My mom actually crash landed it once when my (evil) stepdad passed out drunk at the controls. She only had her taxiing license so she did really well! (We weren’t in the plane at the time.)
Have you seen the movie Out Of Africa? There’s a scene in there that makes me think of your flight. :)
my husband wants to go abck to flight school and become a pilot. It is one of his life goals.
Wow. I didn’t realize M was a pilot. I would’ve reacted the same way you did, chica. You know I’m deathly afraid of flying, right?
Very cool! I would’ve freaked out with the mountains too!
Aren’t mountain something to see?
Great post and my post is up too.
What a great Heads of Tails :) My hubby would be so envious. He’s always wanted to fly. I love the photo and the post
What a fabulous post. I’m terrified of flying, LOL. You’d have to dope me up like wotzisname, the guy from the A Team. Darn, what was his name? Mr T? I like that Foo Fighters song, BTW! Happy Tuesday.
I loved that story. He is so cool – my uncle is a pilot and he took me flying over mountains/valleys and over the city of Sydney (20 years ago now) in a small plane – awesome but scary. He still flies gilders and small planes and flew a glider over France.
I had a flying lesson once in the Caribbean it was awesome but I couldn’t afford to keep them up.
I loved this story!! I would love to fly in the cockpit of a small plane.
