Thursday Thirteen XV: To Do List

13 Things To Be Done In Preparation of My Parents Visit
(on Saturday for TEN days)
1) Mop the kitchen floor: It’s a tad bit gross seeing as I haven’t had a mop. But, today, I got one! I don’t have to touch the water or the cleaning agent and my floors will be clean. Maybe I’ll Davey crawl on them. Then again, maybe not.
2) Clean the bathrooms: I wipe down the toilets daily, but they need a good cleaning. The floors could stand to be mopped, too. I got a mop, ya know?
3) Have the kids clean their rooms: They are doing this tomorrow, after lessons. I am also prompting them to get rid of unwanted toys, to make room for what they are getting for Christmas. They don’t get too much, in the way of toys, but it’s certain that they will get some.
4) Clean out the fridge: My mom isn’t so good in this department. So, I’m gonna show her how it’s done. Dairy with dairy. Meat with meat. Condiments organized. Fruit and veggies on the bottom, together.
5) Finish decorating: We got our tree and it’s up. It’s nice, a seven foot artificial, but a really nice artificial. It’s pre-lit. I could only get the clear lights, but I actually like them. I did get some colored lights for the porch. Gonna put those up tomorrow when my mom gets here to help me. I’ll also be on the search for a tree skirt that doesn’t cost as much, or more than the tree itself.
6) Organize my room: God, it’s such a catch-all. I hate that it becomes that, but it does. I need to get all the crap out, the clothes put away, and I need to change the bedding.
7) Get Davey’s room cleaned: His room has a couple of bins of summer clothes that need to get down to the garage.
8 ) Vacuum: I really don’t do it as often as I should and with two dogs and four kids I should be doing it daily. I don’t, though.
9) Dust: What more do I need to say about this? But, I do need to look for cobwebs. Otherwise my mother, the Cobweb Finder, will come in and rag on me about how I really should clean the cobwebs out of the corners, yadda, yadda, yadda….
10) Finish all lingering laundry: This shouldn’t be hard. I’m not behind. I have no idea how I’m not behind, but I’m not.
11) Scoop Poop: First I need a shovel. I need to get a shovel and scoop all the dried up poop.
12) Take the kids’ Christmas picture and start addressing my cards: This needs to be started just because I’m behind and it needs to be started and finished by Monday.
13) Meditate and Pray: No explanation necessary.

Sounds like me just before my mom got here for T-day. A lot of work being a daughter, isn’t it. The problem for me if I got down on the floor and Davey crawled is that I wouldn’t be able to get back up without help.

We bought a prelit tree last year. I wanted colored lights, but could only find one I liked with clear. So my dumb ass? Still wraps lights around my prelit tree.
But I love it. Just hate getting it prepared!

When I moved out of my home earlier this year, I left a truly vile floor behind. The place was being demolished, and I didn’t feel like cleaning. It’s good when it’s finally done, though. There is something about not having one’s feet stick to the floor. ;)
I have two TT13s this week:

The shovel will come in handy if your parents get really annoying.
