Leap of Faith: Intro

Posted on February 8, 2008 by Mishi | 7 Comments

Life’s all about taking leaps of faith. Our forefathers took various leaps, just the same as we have and do. Everyday there’s something–be it grand or minute–that can be considered a leap of faith. We just don’t always realize it.

My grandparents took a leap when they moved with my mother and her brother, from Macedonia, to America. They were only told of the great advantages that this country held. Based upon that they jumped. Hard and strong! My mother took a leap of her own when she met my father on vacation back to the old country, and married him in three days. He took a leap, too. He’d gone back home to see his family and friends, a bachelor, and returned to Germany (where he lived), a married man. Then together they ascended into their new life, soon thereafter, coming to America.

Leaps abound!

Michael’s taken some leaps, too. He took a big one in 1994, when he left college and his family, and moved to rusty ole Buffalo for me! He’s taken some pretty big jumps, career-wise, too. Sometimes plummeting, and other times soaring high into the clouds (both figuratively and literally). Without his trusting instincts he’d never have gotten to where he is currently. I thank God for his leaps of faith!

Then there’s me: I’ve had my fair share of life vaults, too. From the way I dealt with cliques in high school, to the way I left “the nest”, to the way I delivered my children into the world, to the choices [I've] made regarding their health and schooling; my life has been and is…one big Leap of Faith.

  • Hi, Mishelle,

You mentioned something leap-of-faith-ish about the way you chose to birth your children. Have you already written a bit about that on your blog? Having given birth a number of times ( :P ) I’m quite interested!

Looking forward to your Leaps of Faith. :)

  • Oooh, these are gonna be goooood! I can’t wait to hear your stories!

My current Huge Ass Leap of Faith (being done Safety Girl Style because that’s how I am, but it still counts) is still under wraps, and it’s killing me keeping it so vague on my blog. Leaps of faith are so awesome, though, and your stories are always awesome, too!

  • Yes. Glad you’re doing Leap of Faith…love reading this stuff. Your grandparents story IS my grandparents story, locations different, but identical.
