All Points Weekend Update

Friday:

  • Mikey was sickly. He had a low-grade fever, and just felt weak.
  • After school I took Olivia, Benjamin, and David to the eyeglass place and Walmart. I needed an adjustment and I had them put on silicon nose pads to stop the slipping down.
  • We ate some more red beans and rice. Being a member of this family has been very—ummm—fun. We like our beans.
  • Michael and I watched Aeon Flux after the kids were in bed. Charlize Theron is hot as Aeon; that’s all I have to say about that.

Saturday:

  • Benjamin’s turn to be sickly. He, too, had a low-grade fever, and just felt weak. He planted himself on the couch all day, watching some videos and napping, off and on.
  • I realized that I needed another adjustment with my glasses. The left side was hurting my ear.
  • But, first, I needed to nap with my baby boy!
  • While Davey and I snoozed, Michael made a big batch of chili (”Beans, beans, good for you heart. The more you eat, the more you….”)
  • Olivia wrote a letter to her Papa talking about how we needed syrup, possibly some toothpaste, and how she wanted to use her poop-scoopin’ money to get a Matoran Bionicle. He replied via email:

We might have some extra toothpaste somewhere, but we cannot live without syrup! If the syrup runs out then the world will end! We cannot let that happen, so when Mama goes to the eyeglass place today to adjust her glasses again, you should go with her so you can go to Walmart. Get some syrup there and SAVE THE WORLD!

Oh yeah, and get a Bionicle, too.

Papa

  • Off to Walmart with Olivia (and David).
  • After we came home I made black bean and corn salsa. Yes, I’m glutton.
  • [OH AND I FORGOT!] Mikey and Livey were playing outside. Mikey came in, crying,

Mama?

What Mikey?

Mama?

Mikey!? Are you hurt?|

No… I was.. I was… taking my… shoe off.. and… and… I dropped my shoe, and it went down the SEEEWWWWEEERRR!!!

  • So, off I went to see if I could retrieve the sneaker. Luckily it was dry, and luckily I have mad sneaker-retrieving-skillz. Small catastrophe was averted!
  • We had Benny eat a banana and drink some gingerale. Half an hour later he threw it up on the kitchen floor. We were so happy he made it to the kitchen floor. Puke clean-up is much easier on a linoleum surface.
  • Michael did an initial clean up while I helped Benny get cleaned up.
  • Then I mopped the kitchen, TWICE.
  • Soon, thereafter, Benny went to bed.
  • Once Davey was in bed, I showered.
  • We put the Irish Twins to bed and computed a bit while enjoying some ice cream. Then we watched The Brave One with Jodie Foster. Very good flick, actually. It was interesting to hear Naveen Andrews talk the way he really talks.
  • Sleep from 12-6am with minimal interruption from the baby. The few times that he called out, I just went in, repositioned him, and patted his booty back to sleep.

Sunday:

  • Coffee/computer time
  • Breakfast for the masses
  • Nap time with Davey, again. Ahhhh….
  • Got bad news. News that is actually good. Mo’s house sold. They will be moving within the month. I’m now SERIOUSLY considering taking out an add in the paper for more friends. I have a few, locally, but we can’t seem to gel our times to get together. Mo’s leaving is bad for me, good for her and her family.
  • We ate the chili Michael made, for lunch.
  • More computer time
  • Kids played outside. They blew away at one point; that’s how windy it was.
  • Bath and bed were early because we took off this morning, reeeeeaaaaaaaally early, to take Michael to the airport. He’s going to be in Winnipeg, Canada (read: Bumfuckcoldasicelandorantarctica, Canada) doing a run between Winnipeg and Fargo. I hope he stays warm.

The Week Brings:

  • Co-op!
  • Cooking again as I was spoiled this week with all the cooking that Michael did.
  • Valentine’s Day—taking the kids to dinner with Mo and her kids!
  • Watching the movie Once.
  • Cashing this:

I better not spend it all in one place, eh?

    Beans are yummy!

    Sickness is no fun.

Naps with the kids are the best! We are heading up for one, right now, after our lunch. All three kids and I.

Money is good. Every penny good!

    Have a good week!

  12. Maggie Says:

With that check at the right store you could arm yourselves with beans for a month. I love beans, partly because they cost almost nothing and partly because they really are just so yummy and good for you - and it helps that they keep people out of your house (my goal, anyway).

  13. Huckdoll Says:

    Haha! Love the check…you’re ballin’

    Point form rocks!

  14. zoeyjane Says:

[Mishi] No, it was interest from a savings account that was closed out. LOL LOL LOL I’m an ad-free blog, yo!

  15. Stephen Says:

Wow, a mama’s job never ends! I played Mr. Mom for a few days when my wife was sick last weekend, and I was exhausted!

  16. nen Says:

lol Now why does Canada get such a bad rep for being cold??? It was probably only -20C without wind chill.
