Haiku Friday

Memories clouded
Like raindrops on a window
Remembrance wells up
A storm’s been weathered
This tumultuous friendship
Is now laid to rest
Your words like raindrops
Easily dried by the sun
Looking to the warmth
For I know deep down
In my heart and soul I’ve done
More than I should have
Raindrops come and go
Sight’s easily distorted
But I choose to see
Keeping memories
Always safe and tucked away
Same goes for the hurt
For I have the choice
To allow myself to see
Through the blurred window

Talk about poignancy, Mishelle.
Letting go of hurt, realizing something can’t be the way it should be, holding on to what is good . . . All of these are SO HARD to do. Did you read the post on Marriage and Manure that I put up? If not, I would be interested to hear your thoughts on it.
It’s WEIRD how you and I seem to be thinking about the same things for a few weeks on end now!
And, Thank You for commenting on my haiku.

Touching haiku…nice job. I think we’ve all probably been there with a friend or two. Letting go is the hardest part.

Wow, really powerful. I think it speaks to many of us who have had to say goodbye to a friendship, but you just said it all so much better than I could articulate.

Beautiful and sad. I feel like I should get on the phone and call some people now.

Very powerful powerful poem SAM. And I must say the newer post about letting your friend go is spot on. Catch and release is a healthy thing my friend.

Beautiful Haiku! It sounds like what the teacher always wanted us to do in HS English. What in my mind I think of as “real haiku.” :> And I love the picture of the rainstorm.

I bow down to your writing talents! Nice ‘ku, Mishi.
Happy Friday, Girl!

Oh, Mishi that is so beautiful. You are such an expressive poet. It sucks when you lose friendships you work hard to keep up. What’s the O stand for?
February 22nd, 2008 at 3:18 pm

Thanks everyone! It’s where my heart’s been all week, and to get it out was very cathartic.
AFF: “O” stands for “Odyssey”, my middle name, my dad’s name.
