Top Ten Things Learned This Weekend

10….Domino’s now has ordering online. It rocks. You can watch your pizza’s progress all the way from assembly to  delivery. Their new slogan is, “You Got 30″, and they got our pies to us with three minutes to spare.

9….Ruby Tuesday’s is great. Their food is yummy, the service is always spot-on, the salad bar is fresh, and they are fairly priced. I just need to remember, from now on, to only get the salad bar. Getting an entree plus the salad bar results in one thing: Over. Stuffage.

8….Speaking of which: Don’t fret when people ask to be reseated just because they see six kids and two adults. It is their prerogative to eat dinner in peace, but they don’t have to be rude about it.

7….It’s true when they say, “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.” The receptionist of the doctor’s office is like the cover of a book. She’s the first one you talk to and/or see upon your initial call/visit. Just because she’s awfully crotchety–in tone–when you call, don’t let that be your assessment of the whole office or the doctor herself. She probably just had a spat with her baby daddy or something?  Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.  No matter how tattered it is.

6….Outlet malls are good for something. Especially when you SCORE and get B1G1F (buy one get one free) Webkinz! Not only will it make the kids happy, but they will rejoice and dote on you as “the best Mama in the entire Solar System”. Those little stuffed animals are actually cute, and you’ll be even cooler if you get one to play online with your kiddies.

5….Pull out the video camera more often! You could catch moments such as this one:

So what if he doesn’t say “Mama”, the right way, yet! He says, “Papa”, “Ikey”, “cracker”, “good girl” and he signs swing, hat, and bubbles. For now “Mama” is “A ga”, and I’m fine with that.

4….It’s not wise to eat when you have a belly ache.  Especially taco fries.  Not smart.  Not smart at all.

3….Trader Joe’s is all that and a bag of chips.  A trip down to the area it’s in, once a month, will be worth it for all the good stuff like [All-Natural] cereal bars, toaster pastries, cereals, and the maple syrup!   Note to self:  Write email to Trader Joe’s Head Quarters, pestering them to open one closer to our town.

2….If the tomatoes make their way to the back of the fridge, they will be forgotten about, and they will spoil. That’s terrible and wasteful.

1….Tornadoes (or weather that is conducive to them)  are  NOT fun and it’s always a good idea to stay alert in times of servere weather.  Having a crank radio is a good thing, and having a neighbor with a concrete room in their basement is even better.  Thank God we didn’t need to visit said room this weekend.  Wild weather is definitely hair raising!

  • All good things to have learned ;) I order pizza online more often than I’ll admit publicly, but I haven’t been able to track status. Oh, and Trader Joe’s? Rocks! Sesame seeds and couscous are crazy cheap there, too. And I don’t miss tornadoes.

  • i am jealous…of all of the yummy foodage! my kiddo calls me daddy like 85% of the time – which is hilarious in public when i’m alone with her and random men think she’s calling them daddy…

  • Dominos has online ordering? You mean I don’t have to hassle with trying to spell out my street name even though I know they are looking at it already in their computer? Thank you. And my large rear end thanks you!

I’m so glad to hear you guys “weathered the storm” so to speak. Yikes, that was scary to watch on t.v.

And I do love T.J.’s although I’m still mad they don’t carry the Peppermint Joe-Joes year-round.

  • I’m hoping and wishing for a TJ, Whole Foods or Fresh Market close to us, too. For now, we’ve got Publix and Target. Humph.

  • Not a big fan of RT. They are ok, but service is definitely lacking in the one in Charlotte.

As to the tomatoes, don’t store them in the ‘fridge, you will reduce the flavor (and it doesn’t come back after warming up, it has to due with enzymes).

  • I love Trader Joes! Unfortunately, the closest on is like 40 minutes away. I think we need to have an email petition for them to open more stores. They need to be like Starbucks – on every corner!
