I’m trying. Really trying. However, sometimes I forget these canvas bags in my van. On those occasions I have had the bagger just put my groceries in my cart, and I pack them. That’s not to say that we don’t have those plastic bags under the sink still. But (big BUT), they aren’t in an obscene quantity and they are used to empty the bathroom garbage pails. So, this is the first thing I have changed.

I’ve also gone ahead and removed bleach based products from the house. I am now usin Clorox: Green Works. I also bought some Trader Joe’s Tea Tree and Lavender dishwashing liquid, and when I go back this week I will be picking up some additional soaps, washes and cleaners that are safe and natural.

Baby steps.
Happy steps.
Healthy steps.
Steps in the right direction

  • I’m on the “baby steps” wagon as well! I have ONE of those bags (I swear I grabbed two when I was at the store, but ended up coming home with one)…but next week will be my first time using it! I’m looking into patterns to make the bags, AND I took part in the Kroger contest and have had two free bags loaded onto my Kroger card (Link at my site).

Baby steps is good! If you try to do too much you ended up frustrated!! I can’t wait to use my bags!!

  • One small step for Secret Agent Mama, one giant step for the planet. With apologies to the guy who said something like that a long time ago. Neil Somebody-or-other. He won a race or something.

  • I also, always forget my bags. I’ve switched to Method tub cleaner and I really like it…I’ll have to check out the Green Works stuff.

  • TJ’s Castile soap is a great cheap all purpose cleanser….

  • Wow… you’re braver than me. You’ll have to tell me if that Clorox green stuff works as well as bleach.

Just checked out your weekly winners — LOVED the pics, they were great. Those little tosies were adorable, as well the one with the dog and baby napping at the same time.

  • I love the whole bag thing, and that’s really something I’m religious about – mainly because the canvas bags are *far* easier to carry over the shoulder, and the place I shop gives me back $0.06 per bag per trip, and I go there several times a week.

I’m still buying the cheapest cleaners / detergents I can find (and I do get some bargains), but I’ve just cut back on cleaning ;)

  • How well does the Green Works clean? we were looking at that the other day when we were shopping but my husband is a bleach freak.

  • I think baby steps work. :)

We’re ALMOST green as far as cleaners. I can’t make Michael give up the clorox toilet tablets..

I’m still bad & use plastic shopping bags, but we always recycle them, so I figure that counts a little..

Baby steps are awesome. Those bags are cool! I’m going to post a tutorial on making the cloth bags without a pattern…soon… maybe even this week.
