Thursday Thirteen XXXII: Going on a Road Trip

13 ‘Going on a Road Trip’ Things
1.) I have to find shoes for Mikey and myself. I’m looking for a pair of strappy sandals in black.
2.) I have to plan what clothes I’m taking. I’m only taking one suitcase full.
3.) I have to clean out the big cooler and purchase our snacks and drinks
4.) I need to make a bank deposit.
5.) I have to call my friend Shelley and tell her that we are coming up. I keep forgetting to do this.
6.) I have to make sure I have a variety of DVDs and toys for Davey.
7.) I have to make sure all my batteries are charged. Camera and video camera.
8.) I have to get some batteries in the Leapster for Benny.
9.) I have to make sure the kids have enough reading and drawing materials.
10.) I have to remember my phone charger so I don’t have to buy another.
11.) I can’t forget to pack the kids’ spring jackets. It’s Buffalo and it could be cold still.
12.) I have to get a good night’s sleep the night before we leave.
13.) I have to drive almost 900 miles with *4 kids; I’m kinda like a pro, though. The 3 big kids and I have done this 8 times total!
*Suggestions for travel with an 16 month old gladly accepted and appreciated!

* a can of mousse, a comb, and his sister’s hair. That, or Benadryl.
Wow, you go girl! Sounds like lots of fun and/or insanity. At least you’ll be in your new ride, right? I don’t even want to think of vehicle cleanup at the end of that trip. Yikes!
LOL at Mr. Lady…. can you imagine her hair.
Have a great trip!
Have a wonderful trip! I wanna go a road trip!
Happy TT!
I hope you all have a fabulous time! I don’t get to take trips very often but hope to go to SC this December to see my brother. Have lots of fun!
Sounds like insanity to me! I only have two and that’s bad enough. Some great memories from road trips in the past though. Have a great time!
Happy TT!

When I travel long distances with my kids we always have a wide choice of snacks — several each from the sweet, salty, sour, chocolate (whoops. that’s mine), and chewy food groups. That way they if they feel like something salty, they can have crackers this time and pretzels in an hour.
And new stuff. A new book, a new toy, a new set of Pokemon cards (I am showing my age here, I know. But my kids are 18, 15, and 11, and if we have the portable DVD player, the XBox 360 and enough books to last the trip we are golden.). Or something from the very bottom of the toy box, that they may have forgotten all about.
Good luck! And have fun!
Wow! And I thought I was gonna have my hands full with a 5 hour drive with Poor Hubby & puppy Seven next month!
16 months old, eh? Sorry. If they’re too young for a can of beer then I’m all out of suggestions.
Wish you the best on your trip! You’re a brave lady… 4 kids on a 900 mile trip! Whew!
For Davey: get the crayola color wonder stuff. The paints and markers that only “work” on the specific paper. Books. Loud, noisy toys. I have faith in your ability. Have a great trip home.
Have a GOOD trip!
the color wonder are still an edibility issue, even if they are invisible! at least in our house. aside from drugging (benadryl, a la mr lady), the best suggestion i’ve got is a portable dvd player.
sorry. this is why we don’t, like, do stuff. i am beyond unimaginative.
Enjoy your trip!
We;re also travelling tomorrow. Good luck with the little one!
You’re a brave soul lol Happy Trails!
Sounds like you’ll have a great time, since you’re seasoned road-trippers. Maybe Davey will catch your enthusiasm, and think, “This is FUN!” Maybe all the driving will lull him to sleep. :)
Do you stop or drive straight through I have to ask.I’m good for about 8 hours then every minute after that gets loooooong.Especially Pennsylvania and its hills…Have a good time!
We are going the distance, Kitty!
Next week, right? I SO can’t wait!
Yuppers, BBM!
Crackers for your 16 month old… they are what kept my 16th month old sane in the car on our recent road trip. Happy belated TT.
