Thursday Thirteen : My Senior Prom

13 Things About My Senior Prom
- I was going to go with this guy who eventually got the chicken pox, so my friend Renee and I were going to go stag.
- When my grandfather heard that I was going to go without a date he took it upon himself to ask his Macedonian butcher friend if his son would take me.
- The butcher’s son called me and asked me to my own prom.
- I gladly accepted.
- My grandmother made my dress which was inspired by a dress I saw on Beverly Hills 90210.
- The day of the prom, the Grateful Dead were playing down the road at Rich Stadium.
- Our limo was late by almost 2 hours due to an accident with a VW van full of Dead Heads.
- My date got to sit on my parent’s back porch with my parents and grandparents while I obsessed over where the limo was. I’m sure he was really thrilled.
- At Renee’s house we took pictures by her pool. I had visions of falling in. Thankfully, I did not.
- When we got to the place where Prom was held people were very curious as to where I got my tall, dark, college-aged date.
- He was very gentleman-like, we had many nice conversations, we danced, and it stands out in my mind as a very lovely evening.
- I didn’t attend any after parties. When the limo brought my date and I back to my house he kissed my cheek and told me that he was happy to take me to my prom.
- The Prom’s song was “In Your Eyes” by Peter Gabriel.
Back to TopLove, I don’t like to see so much pain
so much wasted and this moment keeps slipping away
I get so tired of working so hard for our survival
I look to the time with you to keep me awake and alive

Eeeeee, my 17 year old heart is pounding! That’s is SUCH a cute story!
How lovely! :)
Question, who was it who wore the 90210-inspired dress (on the show)? I’m thinking that looks fairly Donna-ish…
That was cool idea for a TT, and a cute story. It made me think of my own prom. My boyfriend broke up with me right before prom. His older brother came home from college right around the same time, so I asked him if he wanted to take me to prom instead. He said yes (sibling rivalry anyone?) and we went and had a WONDERFUL time. We did got to the after prom, we held hands and kissed a little (in front of the ex, yes, it was pure vengeance). And yes, everyone was impressed that I had a college sophomore as my date, lol.
nice save by grandpa! your date looks and sounds like a cutie. did you see him after prom at all?
Mama DB: We saw each other at my Graduation Party and went for dinner once, but it was purely platonic. I wished it was more b/c he was a soccer player and had those sexy soccer player legs, but I think neither of us ever had any feeling more than just friends. He’s married with children now, happy and successful in life (or so I’ve heard).
Brenda wore a dress like that, right?! That’s cool you got a nice & cute date, afterall!
Hugs!
I, for the life of me, can’t remember who wore a dress like that.
Sounds wonderful. What a great memory. I never had a prom, something that still bothers the girlie girl in me.
How very coincidental, I was just talking about my Senior Prom with friends, including my date!
Happy TT!
Oooooh… is that the dress that she and Kelly were both wearing the night where Brenda eventually gave the big ‘V’ to Dylan? :)
Fabulous pic! But you’ll have to tell me which gods you had to bribe to end up with a blind date that looked like that… (I followed suit by the way and posted a flashback of my own)
Great list, happy TT>
ooh, what a gorgeous couple you made.
what a great story!
Beautiful picture of a couple of beautiful people.
Oh, Mishi, that was so awesome and so sweet! Mine was a storybook prom night that I will treasure always, which is saying a lot for an outcast pothead who generally did not attend that kind of thing.
I hated my senior prom! My story is about the same as yours..no kidding!
I am not saying yours was horrible though..mine was for me..anyway..foot in mouth!! I enjoyed your post!!
Wonderful TT, I never got asked to prom, so I never went.
Hey, you busy saturday? I need a guest host.
bummer, but I’m glad you guys have both found your soul mates! Nice backstory to the picture!
Danielle
I didn’t go to my prom so I’ll never be able to share it as a TT story.
What a sweet Prom. You looked beautiful, too.
I LOVE your quote on top of your blog.
