Best Shots: Best Day Ever

W E E K E N D U P D A T E:
The weekend was full. My birthday was great. I took the kids to Ruby Tuesday’s for lunch, then a friend came over with a cake, and then a friend called me and we had a great time talking, as always. Mikey had a sleep-over and that same night we had to travel down to the airport to pick up Michael. This would have been all fine and dandy, but on I-85 I hit a 3 mile stretch of re-paving work, which took an hour to get through. We weren’t home until 2am.
On Saturday morning Olivia had another soccer game. They lost again. Unfortunately their coach didn’t do too good of a job teaching them how to play. He’s a nice guy and all, but he’s not done his job. The team has lost 12 games and only won once. She’s still having fun, though, and wanting to do it again in the fall!
Then yesterday we went out on a good-ole country drive; this is something that Michael and I have done since the beginning of time. We love the mountains and the area in which we live is perfect for lazy Sunday drives. The country store was nice but they were freakin’ expensive as far as the jams, jellies, syrups, sauces, and that kind of stuff was concerned. They sure had a lot, though.
We got really nice tomatoes (and we made a salsa last night that was just awesome), snap peas, HUGE sweet potatoes, Vidalia onions, a bunch of green onions, peaches (I ate one a little while ago trying to con Davey into taking a bite, but it was a no-go). We got some traveling snacks, too. Davey got a big cookie, Benny got a Moon Pie, and Mikey, Livey, Michael, and I got some kettle cooked chips. We also each had a pop in a glass bottle. I had a Diet Dr. Pepper, Michael had a grape Ne Hi, Livey and Mikey had a Classic Coke, and Benny had a good-ole 7 up!
It was nice. We’ve always wanted to stop there, and now we can say that we did. We also have been bitten by the camping bug, which we plan to do here soon. Can’t wait for that! Although, Livey was concerned about pooping and peeing, in the woods, but we just told her that you gotta do, what you gotta do.

I can’t express how jealous I am that you have the mountains and streams and rivers so close by. So jealous.
Looks like you had an amazing time!! A good country drive sounds so good right now! Maybe we should do that…gas prices be darned :)
Just tell her about how you crapped in a ditch once. Hehehe!
Looks like you had a lovely weekend – I’m glad! I love drives like you mentioned.
And that sideview mirror shot is AWESOME. :-D
Awesomeness! Tom and I *love* doing the Sunday driving thing. We often used to drive around about this time of year to scope out various potential campsites. No matter if it was a 3 hour drive to get there. I’d make a list of all the ones in the area, and off we’d go. Me being the anal queen of spreadsheeting, I’d even pick out which tent sites at each place were the good ones so that we’d know in case we could reserve it online. Driving around, camping, ah, I look forward to next summer when we are hopefully in the same place to do all that. ‘Til then, I’ll live vicariously through your adventures :)
sounds like an AWESOME weekend, captured beautifully through your camera lens.
that stream looks so inviting.. I so wish we had something like that around here that was easy to get too..
You really did a great job showing us your weekend.. love the pics.

good times. We need to have an ‘outing with no overarching goal’ day soon.
[in a whiny voice] I wanna go too!!! I took some shots like the last one of the rearview mirror yesterday! Only mine aren’t as good! I love the motorcycles!
