Aunt Mishelle
Aunt Mishelle, can I…?
Aunt Mishelle, do you know where…?
Aunt Mishelle, this… Aunt Mishelle, that…
You don’t know how much I love hearing this nephew of mine say these things to me!
Being an only child has its perks, but it definitely has it downfalls too. One of the worst things about it is the fact that I don’t have nephews and nieces to dote on. Michael’s sister lives in Louisiana, so it’s no wonder that we haven’t been that close over the years. Distance prevents it, but really that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t have any ties. This week with Joe being here has really opened my eyes to that. The kids love having him here, he’s treated like a sibling (actually he’s treated much differently than I’ve ever seen them treat even their closest of friends), and simply put—he’s family!
For me, though, I just love hearing him say “Aunt Mishelle”. I love it. I just do. I have a close friend in Buffalo whose kids call me “Teta” (Macedonian for aunt), and when my cousin PJ has kids I know that her kids will call me “Teta Mishi”, but it’s different coming from Michael’s sister’s son. He’s related, by blood, to my children. I see similarities between the children and him. He’s my nephew, and when he calls me “Aunt Mishelle” I melt into a puddle of goo.

It sounds like this little boy has Aunt Mishelle wrapped around his little finger. It’s nice to have other children to dote on when you don’t want to spoil you own.
I knew a girl who was Armenian who’s name was Teta when I was in grade school.
Such an adorable jumbled pile of kids :) So sweet that you are so excited. I have just two nephews, but due to a very big age difference between me and my sister, I became an aunt when I was in high school. How cool that your kids are enjoying hanging out with their cousin, too. Fun, fun, fun!
That’s so sweet! I love those photos!
That was one of the main reasons why I insisted on having more than one child. I wanted his children to have cousins… I’m a bit strange hey ? LOL!
I can so relate. I have one younger sister but very few cousins or extended family. So, when I married into my hubby’s family (he has 4 older sisters), I inherited 11 nices and nephews, 1 grand niece and 2 grand nephews! I couldn’t wait to be an aunt! My sis is definitely more focused on her career and will not be having children anytime soon if at all!
Great photos. I love the pile of kids one! But, where was Davey?!
Oops! Now I saw him crawling around!
I tried to get Davey in, but it just wasn’t happening.
What sweet photos.
I have only one sibling. My husband has only one sibling, who doesn’t have any children. My sister has only one child. They live a very long distance from me.
So I’m rarely called Aunt Rebecca. But when I am… it’s. so. sweet.
Oh how cute!! Great pile of kids!! I’m fortunate to have nephews from my brother and now a new niece from my SIL.
They are so cute!! Not that my kids aren’t…but nephews/nieces go HOME *G*
Love these pictures!!! I really need to do some like these of my own kids.
By the way, I mentioned you in my blog post today, just so you know!!
How great.
I cannot wait to hear one of my 4 nephews say Aunt, Oz just calls me Penny, and Andrew barely remembers who I am from day to day. I hold much hope on Zander and Griffin :)
Love the pictures.
How very sweet. I love Davey looking at them and then crawling over them, and seeing their reactions. Darling!
Great photos as always. I love the one of your nephew crawling over the older kids. Perfect!
[Mishelle] Tara, that’s Davey. My nephew is the freckle-faced cutie!
Super cute pics. I love being an auntie! :D
