Best Shot: Yum Yum Num Num
It’s been many years since my last toddler. There’s much that I have forgotten, but I haven’t forgotten how messy a toddler can be and how much snacks are adored. Davey’s getting to the age where he is understanding a lot. He guides us to the door to go outside or to the gate to go upstairs. Lately he’s understands when I ask him if he wants a snack (or “num num”) or a drink. It’s so adorable.
In about a week and a half he will be eighteen months old! The other day I was watching him play with Michael thinking that in half a year’s time he will be two. Two whole years old. Unbelievable.
Spoons? Who Needs Spoons?

Before Summer Got Them

Davey’s “Yum Yum Num Num” Faves:
- Yogurt
- Green Beans
- Peas
- Chicken
- Peanut Butter and Jelly
- Dry Cereal
- Trader Joe’s Cereal Bars
- Chewy Granola Bars
- Whole Apples (preferably the ones started by Olivia)
I just hope that he continues to eats fruits and vegetables, unlike his big brother Benny. Benny wouldn’t touch a vegetable. . .for anything!
Listen for yourself: Benny Interview Circa 2004
Ok, I take it back. He might eat some type of vegetable for a Shiny, New Hot Wheels! He might or might not gag, too.
At the end there I said, “Like Survivor when they eat the bugs!”
He retorted, “Okra is like a bug. I’d rather just eat a bug.”
Then he swallowed the rest and said, “When are we going to get my Hot Wheels?”

Do not bribe the kids to eat fruit and veggies so not right :)
Yes, really who needs a spoon mommy?
He is adorable even when he is messy.
that is too adorable.
and mishi? NO ONE eats okra, really….
Hee hee, I love the fingers in the yoghurt! And lol at the gagging… my brother used to do that!
Oh, I love messy baby shots. He didn’t like the yogurt at all, did he?
My little one ALSO loved “started” apples at 18 months. See? DESTINY. We must breed them.
Spoons are HIGHLY overrated. :)
It looks like more fun not to use a spoon, and I see no problem with bribing.
SO funny. I’ve seen my own son gag on totally normal foods – he tends to chew and chew them forever and when I tell him to swallow it he gags. WTH? I figure by that point its got to be nothing but liquid anyway!
We use to keep a supply of Hot Wheels in our closet to reward Jake. We had to stop because his collection got too large. We use a chart now. He earns points for doing various things each day. Then he spends his points in the little store I have set up in the corner of our bedroom.
Love the photos but I loved the video even more!!!!! And I must agree with your second commenter…okra….ewwwwwwww! I would have gagged too!
My youngest is enjoying the same foods – my three year old, not so much. Getting her to eat at all is a minor miracle. I really wonder how she sustains herself some days.
and okra… I love it! Nothing better than fried okra. I like grits too, so there.
Great photos Mis!
That’s what it was…fried okra! Mikey and Livey wanted some from Walmart, and I couldn’t say no to them. Fried Okra and Fried Pickles are the JAM!
That yogurt shot, with the hand. So. Very. Awesome. Love these.
And how brave a mama are you to offer up okra! I love okra. Never been able to cook it properly though and the hubby is not a fan. I will have to try it out on the kids though. And soon. Got a good recipe to share?
Doesn’t everyone eat yogurt like that? Thanks for my laugh out loud moment today. :D
LMAO!!! Okay the bribery in exchange for okra eating…that’s the best! I love it..
Ev says the best yogurt is transported to the mouth via your hand!
