A Little Perserverance Never Hurt Anyone

I’ve got another article up at Blissfully Domestic | Photo Bliss!  It’s about taking pictures of children and pets, together, and it’s quite funny.

A Little Perserverance Never Hurt Anyone

Speaking of perserverance…..

Over the weekend I was chatting on Facebook with an old friend (who started this really cool blog on which I might or might not have a submission published,) and she told me how her girlfriend has Dave Matthews on her Twitter, and how she’s been Tweeting with him for some time now.  Naturally, I asked her for his name on there and ADDED him.   I also did some digging around and apparently it’s legit, and it’s really the David. J. Matthews.

My first tweet to him:

@davejmatthews I named my fourthborn after you! We should talk. DM?

No response.

And here’s where perseverance comes in to play.

Yesterday I tweeted at him again:

@davejmatthews Just one @. Just one. Then I can die. Like @ hi Mishi!

And I got a response.  Click to enlarge.

Dude. That’s a tweet from Dave Matthews.  I am smiling so big, you don’t even know!   Dave if you comment here, I will certainly be grateful and high and happy and fulfilled.

Best Shot Monday: Weekend Snapshots

Our “Island Hopping Papa” came home yesterday.  I hope that he will do a post about his time in the Grand Cayman Islands.   From the sounds of it all, it was a great time filled with hard work, awesome sights, good food, and–at times–high class accomodations.  Regardless, it was nice to be able to see, hear, and touch him.  His homecomings are always some of our favorite times.

The weather has been kind of cold, but the kids are loving it.  They’ve been playing on our hill, jumping on the trampoline, and kicking around the soccer ball.   I really do love fall down here in Georgia.  To me–a born and raised Buffalonian–I am quite comfortable in the cooler temps.   I think the kids are, too.

Oh, how they both need a nail clipping!

The other thing that happened yesterday was that we brought in and put our new table together.  The delivery men were quite happy NOT to do it on Friday when I told them my husband wanted to do it himself.

I feel like this table represents a new phase of our lives.   The old table was purchased in early 2002 and it has seen many meals, books, card games, holiday feasts,  school lessons, craft sessions, gun cleanings, you name it!    This new table is so different.  To me it represents the growth of our family.   In 2002 we had two pre-schooles and one toddler, and much instability.  In 2008 we have three well-rounded BIG kids, a smart-as-all-get-out-almost-two-year-old, and we are expanding on stable ground.   This table makes me feel good.

Goodbye old table!  You served us well.

Some really cool things have been happening to me lately.

  • I’m writing for a really cool project.  So cool that I can’t even really talk about it here.
  • I’ve been asked to speak at a conference about photography.  Not Blogher, but that would be really awesome, right?
  • I love being a part Blissfully Domestic | Photo Bliss and writing for it makes me extremely happy and proud!
  • I was featured on Blog Nosh Magazine yesterday.  That was really big as I love reading all the stuff on BNM.  To be featured was just BIG to me.
  • Soon I will have a wildly awesome printer (read: Epson Artisan 800) set up (I’m currently waiting for the-master-of-all-things-technologically-geared to come home to do it) so that I can put together some holiday give-a-ways.
  • My new website, for my photography business, will be up and running soon.  My portfolio keeps growing, growing, and growing.   Early in the new year my hope is to do, at least, two sittings a month.
  • And today, I was extremely honored when a fellow blogger featured me.  Today I am in the Simply Fearless Spotlight!

Ohhh.. I almost forgot!!  I’m also going to be part of a super cool home schooling magazine called AROUND ZINE!   A real, live publication, yo!

Wow. When you start believing that you can do anything, you can!  I’m starting to believe that I can even lose some weight and get back to some better health.   I hate that I am overweight.  I hate that my blood sugar is high.  I hate having to worry about my health.  So instead of worrying, I am reclaiming.  This week I have started walking two to three times a day.  Once davey goes down for walk, I walk a brisk mile, and then after he wakes and has a snack we walk another mile or two, through the ‘hood.  I’ve also eliminated all the “white stuff” from my diet.  It’s hard as h-e-double-hockey-sticks, but I NEED to stick with it.  I believe I can.  After all, for all the *OMGWTFICBINBBBQ stuff that’s been happening, I owe it to Mishi. You know, the healthy, skinny Mishi that I feel like but can’t see just yet:

I must give credit to Michael for this one!
