A little bit more, in depth:

Who am I? Well, that’s not an easy question to answer. I’ll start with my name. It’s really “Michelle”, with a ‘c’, but when I was a senior in high school I decided to start spelling it the way my mom intended the spelling to be. In high school I was not the popular girl but I was the girl who was friends to all kinds of people. I wasn’t defined by one clique, rather I floated amongst all the cliques and enjoyed all different types of friends. I graduated over 15 years ago and still can’t believe *that* many years have gone by. I have no siblings, but I have many cousins and friends that are my surrogate siblings.

In 1994, while in college, I met my husband via an online telnet chat. He was down in Louisiana and a couple months after we met he moved up to Buffalo. By September 1995 we were married. He’s always been the one I call my “soul mate” and that will never change. We’ve gotten through a lot in all our years together. We’ve had children, moves, job changes, goals met, mistakes made, but ultimately we’ve had love and happiness. No one is perfect, no one relationship is perfect, but the one that we have is special and nothing can break it. Not a thing.

We have four children. The kids are home schooled. Home schooling is a daily challenge but, overall, the kids are educated and well rounded. It’s something that we believe we are doing to ensure them the best future possible. This year we are part of an Odyssey of the Mind Charter School )or virtual charter school). It’s done at home, at our own pace, and we have interaction with a teacher if need be. Most home schoolers would look down on this choice, but for us it was the best choice, and it’s led us in a clear direction. I feel better than ever doing this.

So, back to me; sometimes it’s hard to know who I am because I feel defined by being a mother. Deep down I’m good hearted, kind, respectful, warm, funny, intellectual, and I try to live the best life possible. This blog has turned to an exploration of self. It’s got some humor, some seriousness, some sadness, some intellect, and just plain all of me!
