Heads or Tails Mini-Sessions at Blissdom’11

I’m going to be in Nashville, TN for the Blissdom ’11 Conference, at the end of the month. I’ll be leading a Wisdom Workshop with Lotus, Dawn, Casey, Deanna, Amy, and Angie. ALL about photography, of course. The cool thing is that it’s going to be a very hands-on photography workshop. If you’re going to Blissdom, and you want to learn how to “get off the green square”, you should come to the workshop. I proposed the workshop; believe me when I tell you that it’s gonna be an excellent opportunity for some hands on training. Hands on training with some of the most talented photographers I know.

Photography: Get Off the Green Square!

Composition has been covered. What we need now is to get everyone out of automatic mode. Blissdom provides time to sit down in small groups and focus on what your camera can really do. Experienced and supportive workshop leaders will concentrate on teaching just what each part of the camera does. What is AV? What is TV? How the heck do I shoot in manual? Can someone please explain the difference between Adobe RGB and sRGB? RAW? An intimate hands-on learning environment followed by time to put your newly achieved non-automatic techniques to use with your instructors right there for additional help.

Another opportunity is having some portraits taken by yours truly:

I’m offering mini-sessions, either Boudoir style or head-shots!

The cost is $75.00, and this is what you get:

  • One 30-45 minute session
  • Five high quality, high-resolution images

Weekly Winners {Photo Shoot at Amicalola Falls}

Yesterday, I came full circle; if you will.

Two years ago, this month, I had the pleasure of photographing a certain family.  They were the first to be put in my professional portfolio.  These photos (the ones I took yesterday) have so much meaning to me because it really shows how much I have grown as a photographer.  I believe I’ve grown in all areas—composition, technique, and editing.   That?  Make me feel a sense of fulfillment.   It also reinforces that I am on the right path.

We met at Amicalola Falls, and I—of course—had to capture some of our surroundings before, during, and after the photo session.

Weekly Winners {The Big Gig Edition}

On Friday night I shot The Most Interesting Show In The World.  Literally.

Leading up to the gig, I didn’t know what to expect.  Just being there and feeling the vibe, though, reinforced that *this* is what I absolutely love to do.  And, I thrive in this type of environment.

A Year Goes By Quickly

A little over a year ago, I finally got up the nerve to tell my favorite bank teller that I thought we’d make really good friends. I did the only thing I knew to do, and I sent over my business cards for Mishelle Lane Photography and Secret Agent Mama.

That’s when she stood up and showed me, through the window, that she was expecting.

How cool, I thought, and then I told her that I.HAD.TO.SHOOT.HER.MATERNITY.PORTRAITS.

Some time passed and she had her baby a little earlier than I expected, so her maternity portraits slipped away from us.

Then… My brilliant idea!

I told my new *friend (whose name is Heather) that I wanted to shoot her son’s portraits through his first year of life. It would be my gift to her, in honor of her son’s birth, and in honor of our new found friendship.

Early one morning I met her at her parent’s house. I immediately fell in love with their house, as it’s a photographers dream, with great furniture, hardwood floors, and great lighting.  But, I digress.

Here’s Daxton’s first year through my lens:

Yesterday, it came full circle.  I met Heather and sweet Daxton at her parent’s house again, early in the morning, and it was absolutely brilliant!

Happy Birthday Daxton!

*Not only do I have a new friend, but I have a whole family of friends.  I’m so glad I acted on my instinct.

Shooting the wedding was an absolute blast.  I could share all 600+ images here, but instead you can see all the rest on Flickr!

My wishes for Erica and Dusty….
A lifetime of longing looks into each others’ eyes.
A lifetime of holding each other in love.
A lifetime of smiles and promise.
A lifetime filled with joy.
