I've decided that when I'm working I'm going to always get a selfy-pee!

Naturally Unhurried

There are no parties
No long distances to drive
No wasted hurry

An intimate fete
In the comfort of our home
Uncomplicated

Here nests the blessing
Of family, warmth, and love
Our Christmas Blessing

SPC: Time to Slow Down

December 2nd, 2008

Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi
Exposure: 4 sec
Aperture: f/22
Focal Length: 18 mm
ISO Speed: 400

Yesterday I had to take my favorite lens (the buttery 50mm f/1.4) off and put on my other lens (the inferior kit lens) that came with my camera on.  Turns out there is some kind of communication problem between the lens and the body.   Right now, right before the holidays, and right when I pretty much decided that I’d only shoot with my favorite one; the one that I have grown accustomed to and the one that I could take pictures with blindfolded even.   Actually that’s how I feel–like my eyes have been closed–and I just want to cry big drippy, salty tears.

Today I will ship the buttery lens to Canon for repair.  It will probably take a few weeks to get it back, and in that time I am faced with a new challenge.  I have to re-learn how to shoot with my 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6.   When I put it on, yesterday, I realized that it would probably be a really good time to totally master the TV (Time Value) or M (Manual) settings.   The superior lens helped me master the AV (Aperture Value) mode, so maybe-just-maybe some good will come out of this hiccup in my photography journey.

I have to think that something good will come out of this.  Otherwise I might drown in those salty tears.
