My New Friend: Canon Speedlite 580EX II
There are many highs, but nothing compares to the high you feel when another person completely believes in you. This is the high I am on and have been on. I feel that I am finally taken seriously in this photography endeavor, and Michael completely believes in my talent. It’s an amazing feeling.
I didn’t finish college. I’ve never done more than birth four kids and raise them (and my voice, occassionally.) I didn’t make any career moves as there were none to make. Except now, there is, and to have my husband believe in my so much, it makes me feel high.
So, I thank you Michael. For believing in me. For encouraging me. For helping me. For simply loving me.
Some other new friends arrive later this week and I can hardly wait!

I believe in you, too, but it’s probably a different kind of thing. Still, I am so thrilled for you and for what lies ahead for you!
That is awesome! (And so is an external flash) :)
Wow, that is so cool. What a great feeling. I believe in you too! You’re amazingly talented! I love your photography!
You were born with a gift. Use it.
It’s hard not to see the artist in you – but some husbands (the kind that can’t see the forest for the trees, you know? the ones that cant see their hand in front of their face while standing in a spotlight), SOME husbands just never see the worth of their partner beyond what they consider to be the simple and mundane. Thank goodness that Michael isn’t one of those. Otherwise, I’d have to come over and smack him – and if I did that – and he didn’t beat me up – you’d probably shoot me. So, like I said, thank goodness. *mumbles to self* Yeah! Dodged THAT bullet.
God, I love you Lou!
What a wonderful post. I’m so glad that you have a supportive, encouraging and loving partner.
But he’d have to be pretty daft not to appreciate your talent, honestly! You’ve got it in spades, lady :)
woohoo that’s so exciting! Cannot wait to see what else you’ve got :)
love the speedlite!!! yay
I am so pleased for you…..feeling believed in….is fabulous. You deserve it.
oh and I’ve been trying to learn my speedlite. Still not 100% sure I know what I’m doing. LOL
Mishelle – It is a very good when your spouse validates what you do. For what it’s worth, I think you are an amazing photographer, and the reason I jumped into this 365 project. Thank you!
The feeling is mutual.
Wooohooooo! Can’t wait to see what you’ll be able to do now.
“I’ve never done more than birth four kids and raise them” is about the only stupid thing I’ve ever seen come from your fingers, Mishi. You are so much more than ‘never done more than.’ xo
It’s just easy to feel that way, ZJ. Oh yeah, I also managed to fall in love with Michael. That is another accomplishment.
Hubbys are the best! I wouldn’t have most of my photography stuff if it weren’t for my hubby! In fact, he bought me my first digital camera AND my first DSLR! Not to mention my 50mm!
I must ask what that lens is – it looks so big and round and I think I love it…
xo
That is AWESOME. To have that support is a wonderful thing! (Now if only I could believe in myself. That’s the next step, right?)
And that flash? TEll me that flash is necessary. Tell me that flash makes all the difference in the world. Fur real, tell me.
So far, WiaW, it’s REMARKABLE! I can even create catch lights!! Oh it’s wonderful.
That is so wonderful!!! I’m so happy for you. You deserve it you know?
Go Secret Agent Mama, Go!!!
OOOOOOHHHHHHH, color me green with envy. :)
UGH You got one! We are looking at the 580 too…..let me know how you like it. I’m sure it would be a right purchase decision but I just want to make sure lol
We need an external flash….need it!
I love your photos! I especially love the tone of the black & white in this one – did you use an action?
