Blown Away

Day Two

“What We Play With”

This morning this link came through my reader (from Maria) that really captivated me.    A man named Jamie Livingston took a polaroid picture a day, from March 31, 1979 until October 25, 1997 (ironically his birthday and the day he died.)  I went through the compilation, briefly, and will continue to do so.   I actually went to the day I got married, some of my birthdays, the kids’ and Michael’s birthdays, too.

What a poignant collection of photos from this man’s life.  It really blew me away and made me really think about what I am doing here, with these projects, with this blog, with my camera, with my words.  Not only am I capturing smiles, rainy days, sunsets, toys, animals, myself, and so much more, but I am documenting our time here.  My time here.  Someday I hope my “vault” of pictures can be looked at and reflected upon in the same way.  Someday I hope this inspires [you] to start your own daily photograph project.   I have tears in my eyes just thinking about my children-as-adults looking back on these days.   I hope they are blown away, too!

Remember, we all stumble, every one of us. That’s why it’s a comfort to go hand in hand.

I’ve been through his site, it’s amazing hey?! That inspired me to finish my year of 365 photos… and to carry on with it as much as I can.

It is precious what you do here. Just precious.

I joined a daily photograph project myself. Your photography has always inspired me. I try to learn and soak up as much inspiration as I can from you! Thanks Mishelle!

How very cool, on so many levels. I’ll go check him out. I’m considering a 365 photo thing with a particular object. We’ll see. Until then, I still love just documenting life even just weekly on Sundays because it’s so neat to look back.

How cool is that?! What an awesome idea. I wish I had the talent you do, because you capture such beauty in the world…and being able to chronical that would be amazing.

  6. Please don’t die. Mkay? Then I won’t have to remember you – I can just talk to you and see more pics. Mkay? Good.

I love looking back at my 365. It’s like a journal of 1000 words every day! I’m glad you’re doing it too! :)

Amazing. I love your work, Mishi. Whereas his was documentation, and in that documentation there is Art, yours is Art, from the hands of an artist

That’s the coolest thing ever. Sometimes the thought of a 365 project sounds daunting but seeing it on the flip side like this is amazing. How cool will it be to look back on every single day of your life for the last 18, 20, or 30 years? What an awesome gift for our children and their children.

I hope my children look at my writing and see my humanity is all.

My love, my flaws. The huge stumbles I have taken.

I like this idea, really, really like it. Maybe a second blog for me. Might force me to not be so lazy. As much as I like taking pictures it is a hurtle to me to get my camera out. Maybe because of where I keep it. Not so convenient. Maybe if I move it I might move it!

I looked at the website you mention. What an amazing collection of days in the life of this man.
With your talent for photography and your kindness in posting your wonderful pic for all to see, I’m sure we’ll be looking back through you photos in years to come.
