Weekly Winners {Our Staycation}

Spring break totally flew by.  One day I heard chirps of how there was seven days of vacation left, and yesterday morning someone quipped about how there was only two more days left before school started again.  Maybe the time passed because our days were full.   We went on a successful shopping excursions where an {almost} teen girl’s birthday money was spent wisely.  We also celebrated said {almost} teen girl’s birthday at the Edge of the World Rapids on the Amicalola River—with red velvet cupcakes, to boot.  We flew a kite.  We had lunch with an amazing friend.  We  played at several parks, including a wonderfulwonderfulwonderful playdate meet-up with new friends (who feel totally like old friends.)  We even discovered some hidden treasures, right around the corner, of the hiking trail persuasion.   We had a really full spring break staycation.   Bring on summer now!

Out of Focus In Focus

sometimes you just have to put your thoughts down
without punctuation
without spell check
without grammar policing
for me it’s easier to hear my thoughts when i’m listening to tunes
i just wish it was dark, and that i had some wine
or smoke
then maybe i could put down even more unadulterated thoughts
like the ones where i say i want to splash color on my walls
burnt reds and yellows and blues
thoughts like i want music to play all day
while i dance barefoot
breasts swinging free without the prison that is a bra
thoughts about new sneakers
that have been often thought about
finally on my feet
that feel so perfect and right
thoughts like i want massive shelves
put together to house books about mushrooms, planes, yoga, and trains
thoughts about a photo mosaic wall
made up of a million different picture frames
some bought at the flea market
others bought at the goodwill
and none bought at the conglomerate down the street
and just then i close my eyes and dream about a room that is my own
tiffany blue with a yellow chandelier
an easel and paint and a chair covered in crushed red velvet
with a basket of fruit in the center of the scratched and painted on tabletop
the kind of fruit that begs you to take a bite
no napkins
just fleshy fruit that when bitten drips down your fingers
palms
wrists
forearms
and chin
just then out of the window the sun glows low through the trees
with a beckoning warmth
that makes you forget that your fingers are sticky
that your face is refreshingly dirty with the juice of the earth
these are the thoughts that are dancing in my head
they are out of focus

My Perfect Outfit

My Perfect Outfit

Polyvore is so awesome.  I love how you can create certain looks by mixing and matching products from your favorite stores.  You can go all out on Polyvore, incorporating all aspects of [your] life in your creations.  I like to keep it simple when creating, but I have seem some really awesome ones out there.

Today I created “My Perfect Outfit”.  Lately I just love the look of a skirt with funky socks or leggings and a simple graphic t-shirt (which, when it’s cooler I would wear with my Million Ways Eliza Parker wrap or a black boyfriend blazer—one that I have yet to find, but I’m still looking!)

Right now I’m also completely in love with Chuck Taylors.  I am determined to get a bright colored pair for the spring/summer months, but for now my mock black ones do just fine.

Everyone knows that I carry my camera almost everywhere I go.  There’s no other way to do so, stylishly, than with an Epiphanie Bag.  The Clover is to die for, and in gray I just completely believe it was made just for me.  You know? me being in love with the monochrome, and all.

I firmly believe that outfits are made with accessories.  Belts, scarves, sunglasses, necklaces, and earrings are my favorite, and they add a great personal style to the simplest of outfits.

Currently I’m obsessed with wearing multiple necklaces, so when I saw this layered asymmetrical crystal bib necklace, from Sorrelli, in antique silver, I fell in love.  And, of course, nothing would look better—in my opinion—than a matching pair of big hoop earrings.  When I’m not wearing my favorite (go-to) fleur de lis earrings, I’m wearing big hoops, and I just MUST. HAVE. these Snow Bunny hoops!

Stay tuned for more installments of “My Perfect Outfit”.
