Welcome To Moe’s
iPod Shuffle Winner: As selected by Random.org, commenter #2, Rebecca Hines! I will be in touch to get your information, Rebecca! Congratulations!
One night last month while I lay in bed “visiting” walls on Facebook (you can’t tell me you don’t go around “visiting” your friends’ walls late at night. Sure, [you] might call it “stalking” but I call it “visiting”—whatevs!) I went to one of my social media “boards” (I call them “boards”, but that’s because I’m an old school bulletin boarder. Sure, they might be “groups”, but I’m calling them “boards” and you can’t stop me, but I digress.) That’s when I saw a post from Stacie asking who was local to Atlanta and liked Moe’s (as in Moe’s Southwest Grill).
Ok, first thing’s first, you have to know how much my family loves Moe’s. We’re in there, at least, one time a week. Some weeks we are in there more. We love our Moe’s crew, we love how relaxed we can be in there, and we love the food.
So, back to me in bed, iPad in hand, Stacie’s post on my Facebook “board”….
I didn’t even bother to answer the post, I went right to my message box and sent this:
“For serious, the Moe’s thing,.. I’m dying to know more!”
And, with that I was in. I was to become part of the official Moe’s Blogger Advisory Council.
That weekend [we] were invited to go down to Moe’s where we met the head chef and all the executives. It was amazing. I already knew how awesome Moe’s was, but to really learn ( just. how. awesome.) all the good stuff they believe in and do was the icing on the cake (or should I say the queso on the chip?)
Seriously, did you know that Moe’s has a Food Mission which reads, “Moe’s Food Mission is to bring the highest quality ingredients to every guest, every day, everywhere. We’re always focused on the best possible option – from vegetarian to low calorie ingredients to a variety of ingredients without rBGH, steroids, added preservatives or MSG.”
Now do you see why we eat there as much as we do?
It started with the new black dress that I got for $20.00. I drove down to the Westin Perimter and met all the bloggers involved. We had some cocktails (which for me was just club soda with lime since I was just coming back to life after having the bubonic plague), talked about ourselves a bit, and then we headed down to Moe’s where a special night was planned out just for us. When we walked in were were greeted by the spectacular Moe’s executives including the CEO and their head chef. Waiting for us was a chef jacket with our names on them. We were all so seriously jazzed about them that it didn’t take long for each of us to put ours on as we prepared to be dazzled by the planned event. We mingled, ate chips, salsa, queso, and guacamole, played with the Coke Freestyle machine, had a little friendly salsa competition (my team, aptly named ‘The Salsa Superstars’, totally won, yo!), and then we tried out some new items that Moe’s will be unveiling soon. With our bellies happy and full of good stuff we each gave the burrito assembly line a roll (pun intended!) So. Much. Fun.
I didn’t want the night to end, but I knew that I had to get home, digest all the food I had eaten, and get some sleep. The next morning Mikey and I would set off to Atlanta to meet our group for breakfast before heading to the World of Coca Cola, but I will have to tell you about that in my next post.
For now, I wanted to share some swag! Moe’s gave me a 2 GB iPod Shuffle. In our house we all have iDevices, so I wanted to share this with one of my lucky readers. All you have to do to be entered to win is tell me what you order when you go to Moe’s! And, don’t worry if you don’t have a Moe’s. If you don’t, all you have to do is visit their Food Menu online, and tell me what you would order if you could!
The giveaway will end on Cinqo De Mayo!
Disclosure: Moe’s provided my travel expenses and hooked me up with some swag for participating in this event. The opinions expressed are purely my own, and even if I didn’t become part of the Moe’s Blogger Advisory Council, I’d still go to my local Moe’s on a weekly basis! It’s all in the, “WELCOME TO MOE’S!”
Monochromatic Wall of Lane
I’ve been dreaming about creating a photo wall, up along the stairs, for as long as I can remember, since our first house, back in Buffalo. I’ve finally gotten around to it, and I’ve decided that the whole wall is going to be black-and-white portraiture. Right now I’ve only got three photos up there, but I’ve got a growing folder of pictures ready to get printed, either to be framed or made into a canvas print. I want a mix of both, really. I also want a mix of posed and candid shots. This summer I want this wall to be covered in photos!

Yesterday, Davey and I traveled into Atlanta for a birthday party for Renee’s little boy, Mekhi. Davey was so excited. Not only did he get to see Mekhi again, the party was at Imagine It! Children’s Museum and there would be so much for him to see and do. Add pizza and cake; Davey was in his element!
I brought my camera along—50mm f/1.4 affixed—and snapped away. I wanted to document the day, from my perspective for my friend, but also I was sure that there would be some cool captures that would make it into the folder for my “Monochromatic Wall of Lane”.
They aren’t the typical posed portrait, but I love them just the same.
I was contacted by Easy Canvas Prints to turn one of my photos to canvas and they also gave me an 8×10 canvas print to giveaway, to [you] one of my readers.
The middle canvas, of all four of the kids, was from them.
The site was easy to use, and the canvas is just awesome. At Easy Canvas Prints, turning your favorite photo to canvas is so easy that all you do is choose what size you want, upload your photo, select the border, and you even have the option to apply affects.
To be entered in the 8×10 CANVAS GIVEAWAY just link me in the comment section to a photo (on your blog or photo sharing site) that you would love to have printed on canvas. You can change your mind as to what picture you actually print, if you win, I just love an excuse to see your favorite photos!
The giveaway will end a week from today, and you can share a link a day, everyday of the week, to be entered!
That’s good odds, yo…
[Easy Canvas Prints provided me with a 12×12 canvas print, but I was not compensated monetarily for this post.]

Accessories. The part of my wardrobe that I could not go without.
A bold necklace. A sassy scarf. A great pair of bold earrings. A stylish belt.
And, now….
I first heard of these brilliant little accessories at Blissdom 2010. Everyone had one on, and I was mesmerized by them.
“What is that you’re wearing?” I asked a friend.
“It’s a Pleated Poppy Posy! Oh. Em. Gee. You have to find the woman who makes them. She’s giving them out with her business cards. Her name is Lindsey Cheney,” she replied.
“For REAL?” I said, all flabbergasted.
“Yes, for real,” she claimed.
I did finally find her and my friend was right, she had Pleated Poppy posies attached to her business card.
This cute-as-a-button-woman-whom-I-really-wanted-to-fold-up-and-put-in-my-pocket-to-take-home-with-me was a genius; giving away her poppies with her business card was, I don’t care who you are, GENIUS!
I wore the heck out of that one poppy. I’d wear it on tops, on a necklace chain (yes, a necklace chain), on a headband, and even affixed it on my purse. And then Olivia stole it from me.
Something about, Mama, Mama, I love it, please can I just keep it in my room, blah, blah, blah…
I’ve yet to see it return to my dresser.
Luckily for me cute-as-a-button-Lindsey-whom-I-really-really-really-wanted-to-fold-up-and-put-in-my-pocket-to-take-home-with-me-when-I-met-her-in-Nashville contacted me recently to see if I’d be interested in giving away some poppies to my readers!
It didn’t take me but 4.7 seconds to respond to her email.
Would I ever?
Absolutely!
To win your very own set of posies just visit Lindsey’s shop and tell me which are your favorite.
That’s it. Super simple. I’ll announce the winner on Friday. Good luck!
*Disclosure: The Pleated Poppy posies photographed in this post were sent to me, free of charge, to photograph, enjoy, love, and not let Olivia steal from me!
I’ll Show You Mine, Now You Show Me Yours
Get your mind out of the gutter!

It’s no secret: I love bags! I’ve always loved them. There’s even a long standing joke between Michael and myself about the number of purses I own or have owned in the 16 years we have been together. That being said, I have always feared that my purse box would mysteriously disappear from where it is stored. I have that many purses. And, he has that much disdain over this fact. But, now, my purse love has turned into camera bag love. Mostly because I have to take my camera with me [almost] everywhere I go. Yes, even to Wal-mart! You never know when there will be some shopping excursion that needs documenting, right?
My first camera bag was, of course, the big Canon bag that could—at the time—house my gear and then some, but now would not even come close to fitting all my equipment. I soon realized that I needed something smaller and less noticeable (and cooler, too!) I got a Crumpler. That bag was just big enough for my XTi with my 24-70mm f/2.8 and my Speedlite. The last time I opened it up was on Christmas morning of 2009, also known as Christmas 5DMK2! That bag would prove to be way too small, and I was relegated to carrying my big Canon bag around. But, that wouldn’t be the best option. I mean, who wants to roll around town with a big Canon bag on her shoulder? This would be the end of taking my camera on shopping trips. Then came an Epiphanie, and her name was Lola. All was right with the world.
Recently, though, I was sent a beautiful *Kelly Moore Bag to review. I chose the the yellow messenger style because I have always LOVED that kind of bag. I wanted something totally different from Lola, and [Mustard Boy -oh- boy] did I get it!
This Kelly Moore Bag is great to take on photo-shoots. I love how I can easily open the flap and get whatever piece of equipment I need out. There are two side pockets that are perfect for my cell phone and sunglasses. There’s a front zipper pocket that is big enough for my hardcase wallet and then two zipper pockets that I keep extra memory cards, batteries, the collapsible lenshood for my 50mm, Lensbaby focus rings, and business cards. There’s even room for lipstick! If I had a mini, I would definitely be able to take that with me, too, carrying it in the back pocket. My laptop actually fits, it’s just too heavy to carry in there since I don’t have one of those lightweight, handy-dandy Macs. Also, the bag closes with really strong magnets, and I am totally not nervous when I carry and use it.
Oh, and, there are three different styles, with many different colors to choose from; there’s a bag to suit everyone’s taste.
All-in-all, for me, the Kelly Moore Mustard Boy Bog is the perfect addition to my camera bag collection. I absolutely love its versatility, and when I carry it around with me on shoots (or even just photo walks on, say, Lake Laniere or the fireworks show in Dahlonega) I feel totally professional yet hip, at the same time.
Which brings me to my big news:
I am giving away a Kelly Moore Bag!
However, I AM going to make you work for it!
Here’s what you have to do…
To be entered to win (1) Kelly Moore Bag you can:
- Leave me a comment telling me which bag is your favorite. See them all: Here (1 point)
- Follow Kelly Moore on Twitter. (2 points)
- Join the Kelly Moore Bag Group on Facebook. (2 points)
- Submit a self portrait (a selfy-pee, ya’ll know how I roll) WITH your camera, camera gear, camera bag in the picture; the more creative the better! Feel free to use your cell phone, your point-and-shoot, your DSLR, or your Diana! (5 points)
(Make sure you tell me what you’ve done to be entered, in the comments section. Also, in the comments section—if you’ve done #4 just link to your blog post, Flickr, Photobucket, Facebook, or where ever you have your submission hosted!)
Here’s an example of what I’m looking for in regards to the selfy-pee:
You have until August 4th to get your picture in, and the winner will be announced on August 5th. A winner will be chosen at random.
Ready. Set. Shoot.
