Thank you to everyone who participated!!

Remember: I have created the {Picture It Outside of the Box} Flickr group. You don’t have to add your image to the group, but it does create an easy hub for the community that I hope to see grow through these weekly challenges.

The challenge for {Week 7} of “Picture It Outside of the Box” is:

{The Holidaze}

It can be a challenge to shoot during the holidays, from year-to-year, and make it different.  So, you have to start thinking outside of the box.  Like, what can you do to add a new level to your pictures at this special time of year?  Is it a different angle?  A different process in post?  Focusing on something you might not have focused on in the past?   Show us what you do during the spectacular holidays!

The Challenge: How It Works

  • Each week, on Friday, I announce the “Picture It Outside of the Box” photo challenge theme.
  • You can submit a photo for the theme by the following THURSDAY. Enter your direct link (to your blog post with the photo in it or your photo on Flickr) in the thumbnail McLinky Tool at the bottom of the post. Keep in mind the linky-loo will close down on Thursday at 11:59 PM EST.
  • FIVE submissions from my readers will be showcased on Friday, and the new theme will then be revealed.
  • Basically: you play along, you have fun, we show each other our awesome photos, we share inspiration….it’s a win-win situation!
  • Visiting fellow photo challenge players is highly encouraged!

Picture It Outside of the Box {Week 6}

The tree shots from {Week 5} were AMAZING! I love how “out of the box” so many of the entries were. That was my deciding factor, on which ones to pick. Here are some submissions that I thought were really different, that were taken from a really different perspective:

Picture It Outside of the Box {Week 3}

Thank you for playing along last week.  There were nine entries, and I couldn’t narrow it down, so I am showing ALL of you off this week!   Thank you to Lotus, Ann, Tigerlyons, Sarah, Shab, Tara, CaseyJen, and Angie for playing along.  I hope to see you participate in the next challenge!

The challenge for {Week 3} of “Picture It Outside of the Box” is:

Hold It

I love seeing a camera in a photographer’s hand.  There’s just something incredibly sexy about it.   Show me how you hold your camera.   This can be as basic as a bathroom mirror reflection or you can really take it “outside of the box”—you decide!

Here are a couple of examples:

Picture It Outside of the Box {Week 2}

Many huge thank yous to everyone that participated in last week’s Picture It Outside of the Box, Halloween photo, challenge.  It is my hope you will keep coming back, every Friday, to get the next theme to submit. Not only is it fun, but I will be tips and tricks, and I’m working on some cool stuff as added incentive (read: prizes!)

For now, though, I hope you will continue to share your love of photography with me and the other photogranerds. I’ll be reminding you to play, too; you can count on that!

Here are FIVE submissions (Which? Was REALLY, really, reeeeeeeeeeeealllly hard to do, yo!)

The challenge for {Week 2} of “Picture It Outside of the Box” is:

Low Down

This challenge is about lowering your perspective. I’m asking you to change your angle—even if that means you have to get on the ground and get dirty (just watch out for dog poop if your yard is anything like our yard!)

Here are a couple of examples:
