Weekend Update

One more week till Papa’s home. Fargo and Winnipeg are cold. He’ll have a lot of warming up to do.

On Friday Mo came over with her kids, after school, and we went to a park that is located in our town, just ten minutes away. Olivia will be playing soccer there, and I just can’t wait. I have ulterior motives, though, which include making new friends and taking a lot of sports shots! The park is unbelievably nice, and we had a great time letting the kids play. Davey crawled around on the wood chips and hollered at me, ever time I tried to pick him up; it was either swinging or crawling orĀ  throwing wood chips around. After they played, we walked the green way, and then we went off to dinner.

Mexidive #2 is the place to go, yo! Both Mo and I were enamored with our server, Mr. Latin himself, Ramone. He was so suave, and so cute with the kids. It really made dinner a pleasure. Davey seriously ate food, too. It must’ve been all the playing at the park that made him have such an insatiable appetite!

When we got home, we threw on the Avatar video that the kids got from the library while Davey worked off all his new energy. Which at precisely 8:45pm wore off. He was ready for bed. I put him down, called down to the kids to come up, and we were all in our beds by 9:03pm. I decided not to get online or watch a movie, and it felt great. I slept solid until 5:02am, when Davey woke up. He playee, ate, and then went down for his first nap just 1.5 hours later. I laid back down, too. The nap lasted almost two hours. Needless to say, I was rested and it felt goooood!

I had promised the kids that they could use their Valentine money from my parents at the toy store. I don’t know why I promise these things. We’re going to be over run by toys soon, I swear. How lucky for us, though, the store had marked everything way down to make room for their new store location. Everyone got what they wanted at half off! It was great. Livey got a stuffed cat whom she named Dickens, Benny got Neville the train, Mikey got a one shot musket rifle with caps (I think that’s what it is, at least), and I can kick myself for not getting Davey that Bubble Machine that was 40% off. Maybe I’ll stop back today and see if it’s still there and on sale?

After we left there we went to Walmart to get some milk, bread, and wrapping paper for a birthday party we were attending later in the day. The birthday party was for Michelle’s daughter, Rachel, and it was a Hannah Montana party. The party was great, but Livey felt a little left out in the beginning. The majority of the guests were from Rachel’s gymnastics group, with whom she spends a lot of time with. It was only natural for Livey to feel that way, but it still made me a little sad. I’ve felt like that before; it’s no fun. However, the neighborhood girls finally showed up and Livey found “friends”.

The party was really great. I have some fantastic pictures, documenting the whole night. I can’t wait to share them with Michelle. Before we left, I bathed Davey, and got him in his PJ’s. While I was giving him his bottle, I overheard the one other mom that was there talking about Grenadine.

“What is this drink?”, she asked.

“That’s Grenadine. You put it in drinks, but you can’t drink it alone,” Michelle’s husband responded.

“Do people in this country like this fruit?” [pointing to the pomegranate] “In Croatia we love it!” she boasted.

I couldn’t help but get up to say what I did:

“Jas sum Makedonka!” / “I am Macedonian!” I exclaimed.

Her jaw dropped and we conversed a little bit in each of our Slavic dialects. Then we talked about where my parents were from, the last time I went there, the last time she and her family went, the country and landscape, and our hopes for future visits. Is was a good note to end the night on.

Davey fell asleep in the truck, like I knew he would, and I chatted with Michael on the phone. I have realized how bad my eyesight was getting now that I have the glasses. Driving at night is so much better with them now, and I’m not stressed out by it.

Everyone was in bed soon after we got home. I chatted online with Michael a bit, and then I watched Jericho. WOW! Love that show—-alot! Right after it was done, I uploaded my Weekly Winners and then I went to bed. It was before midnight, and I was in store for another good night’s rest!

This picture from the Weekly Winners is my favorite:

I titled it “Tin Roof, Rusted!” and that’s so appropriate. The picture was taken on the “The Atlanta Highway”.

If you see a faded sign by the side of the road that says
15 miles to the… Love Shack! Love Shack yeah
I’m headin’ down The Atlanta Highway,
lookin’ for the love getaway
Heading for the love getaway, love getaway,
I got me a car, it’s as big as a whale
and we’re headin’ on down
To the Love Shack
I got me a Chrysler, it seats about 20
So hurry up and bring your jukebox money

The Love Shack is a little old place
where we can get together
Love Shack baby, Love Shack bay-bee.
Love baby, that’s where it’s at,
Ooo love baby, that’s where it’s at

Sign says.. Woo… stay away fools,
’cause love rules at the Lo-o-ove Shack!
Well it’s set way back in the middle of a field,
Just a funky old shack and I gotta get back

Glitter on the mattress
Glitter on the highway
Glitter on the front porch
Glitter on the hallway

The Love Shack is a little old place
where we can get together
Love Shack bay-bee! Love Shack baby!
Love Shack, that’s where it’s at!
Huggin’ and a kissin’, dancin’ and a lovin’,
wearin’ next to nothing
Cause it’s hot as an oven
The whole shack shimmies!
The whole shack shimmies when everybody’s
Movin’ around and around and around and around!
Everybody’s movin’, everybody’s groovin’ baby!
Folks linin’ up outside just to get down
Everybody’s movin’, everybody’s groovin’ baby
Funky little shack! Funk-y little shack!

Hop in my Chrysler,
it’s as big as a whale
and it’s about to set sail!
I got me a car, it seats about twenty
So c’mon and bring your jukebox money.

The Love Shack is a little old place
where we can get together
Love Shack baby! Love Shack bay-bee!
(Love Shack…Love Shack…)
Love Shack, that’s where it’s at!

Bang bang bang on the door baby!
Knock a little louder baby!
Bang bang bang on the door baby!
I can’t hear you
Bang bang on the door baby
Bang bang on the door
Bang bang on the door baby
Bang bang
You’re what?… Tin roof, rusted!

Love Shack, baby Love Shack!
Love Shack, baby Love Shack!
Love baby, that’s where it’s at
Love Shack, baby Love Shack!
Love baby, that’s where it’s at
Huggin’ and a kissin’,
dancin’ and a lovin’ at the love shack

Yesterday was rainy and gloomy, and it was perfect “stay-inside-and-vege-all-day” weather! That’s about it. Today we don’t have any school work as it’s President’s Day, but we have grocery shopping to do after Davey wakes up from his nap.

Here’s to hoping that the week goes by super fast!

Fargo and Winnipeg aren’t just cold. They are colder than a witch’s *&^%^ after she’s been stuffed in a freezer for a few days.

That is a great photo of the rusted roof. But then again, all of your photos are great!

You just had to put all the words for the song now didn’t you?
    Sounds like a fulfilling weekend.
Pretty cold here too, more snow. I have a great pic for WW though, actually have a nice stockpile going.

You sure do a lot on the weekend, Mishi! It makes me feel so lazy! (Okay, I am lazy, but still!)

    Love Tin Roof, Rusted!

  4. 02.18.2008

Those bubble machines are great – and I’m kicking myself as well for not picking one up when I saw it.

  5. 02.18.2008

Sounds like it was a fantastic weekend.
And my favourite is that tin roofed photo too!

  6. 02.18.2008

I love the weekly winners photo! I love old barns.

  7. Yikes Fargo? I thought about you yesterday when I saw the independence vote in the Balkans went through. Glad you found a Balkan friend at the party. I’m also glad you took a night to catch up on your sleep. JERICHO is awesome! Although I thought last week’s was more of a “catch everybody up” kind of episode. I can’t wait until tomorrow. That senator/president is Cahreepeee looking, no? Bad guy for sure! Tin roof rusted was how I told Pup I was pregnant. Written on the dessert plate at cheesecake factory.

So glad you met someone interesting with whom to talk about good memories and familiar places.

I really enjoy your photos; this one has star quality. :)

I love the barn pictures. Absolutely love old barns. Thank you for making my eyes happy today!
